The idea of new balances in the Anthropocene takes shape in the figure of the torus (doughnut). The three sections of the artwork evoke the tokamak, a technology for thermonuclear fusion, where the issue of energy takes on a central role. Fusion is proposed as a long-term solution, not as a matter of blind faith in technology, but as a tool for integration and reconnection with nature.
The torus evokes Doughnut Economics, a model in which prosperity lies within the space between social needs and ecological limits: the inner part of the doughnut, where human needs are met while respecting planetary boundaries.
The three sections, like the three pillars of sustainability, environmental, social and economic, present technology and nature as interconnected, complex and vulnerable systems.
In an era of "scorched earth", the artwork does not merely denounce, but opens up the possibility of transformation: the Earth as a living and regenerative organism and humanity as an integral part of this process. Fusion thus becomes a metaphor for a transition towards a shared planetary metabolism.
